MULCHING. When mulching around trees and shrubs make sure not to pile mulch against the base or trunk. Spread the mulch out to the dripline or just beyond and approximatly 3" deep. This will help retain moisture during dry periods and also protect shallow roots from heat.
WATERING. Mature Trees can use up to 200 Gallons of water daily. When you are able to water your trees, water in deeply. Try to get the top 4 to 6" of soil wet. Shallow, frequent waterings are not as good as less frequent deep watering. Check local watering restrictions for times and dates you can water.
FERTILIZATION. Keeping your trees and shrubs healthy is the key to them surviving during conditions such as a drought. Consider allowing Premier to give you a free consultation and estimate on deep root fertilization of your trees and shrubs.
